The Baltimore Orioles have a new braille jersey for the 2018 season. This is a great step forward for the team and for blind and visually impaired fans.

The Baltimore Orioles have debuted a new braille jersey that will be worn by players during the special Disability Awareness Day game on May 20. The jerseys were designed in collaboration with the Maryland affiliate of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB). “The Orioles are deeply committed to inclusion and accessibility, and we are proud to partner with the NFB to create this unique opportunity for our fans who are blind or visually impaired,” said Orioles executive vice president John Angelos. “We are excited to give these fans a chance to feel the texture of our new braille jerseys and to watch their favorite players wear them on the field.” The jerseys will feature the name “Orioles” in braille lettering across the chest, and the player’s number will be on the back.
